Christine Anne “Chris Anne” Lipes Carson
Christine Anne “Chris Anne” Lipes Carson, age 57, of Covington, passed away Sunday, September 10, 2023, at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of Russell L. Carson, for 31 years.
She was born September 15, 1965, in Raleigh, North Carolina, the daughter of Anne Louise Glover Lipes and the late Marvin Leslie Lipes. She was a graduate of Alleghany High School, Class of 1983, and later graduated from Radford University with a business marketing degree in 1987. During her working career, she was employed at The Virginian Review, EZPass, and Amanda’s Redi-Mix/B&D Trucking and spent many years providing child care in her home. She was a member of Granbery Memorial United Methodist Church.
She was a loving wife and mother and loved her family and close friends dearly. She loved watching her favorite sports teams on TV, the Dallas Cowboys, Atlanta Braves, and Duke Blue Devils and also enjoyed watching her favorite tennis player, Rafael Nadal. She loved to read and enjoyed cross-stitching keepsakes for loved ones for many years. She enjoyed camping with her family for many years, especially all of the Halloween festivities in the fall. She loved watching The Amazing Race and never passed up a good cooking or baking show. She loved spoiling the special pets in her life, Nick & Cupcake, and most recently her grandpup, Nash.
In addition to her husband, Russell, Chris Anne is survived by a son, Dylan Tyler Carson, and a daughter, Rachel Elaine Carson and fiancé, Daniel Blevins. She is also survived by her mother, Anne Louise Glover Lipes; two brothers, Marvin Kirk Lipes and wife, Tina of Roanoke and Michael Leslie Lipes and girlfriend, Danielle Reynolds of Covington; two nieces, Katelyn Lipes Winand and husband, Dustin and Hannah Lipes; a sister-in-law Kathy Wiseman and husband, Rick; a brother-in-law Garland Carson and wife, Sharon; four nephews Matthew Wiseman and wife, Janice, Brian Wiseman and wife, Jill, Cody Carson and Daniel Carson; and a number of extended family members. She also had many special friends throughout her life.
In addition to her father, Marvin Lipes, Chris Anne was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Theodore and Rebecca Lipes, and maternal grandparents, Elzie Dayton and Frances Glover; father and mother-in-law Preston and Jeanette Carson; and a number of aunts and uncles.
A celebration of her life will be conducted on Saturday, September 16, 2023, at 3:00 p.m. at the Chapel at Loving Funeral Home with Anthony Lowry officiating. The family will receive friends on Saturday at Loving Funeral Home from 1:00-3:00 p.m. prior to the service. In accordance with her wishes, her body has been cremated.
