LOW MOOR – Playing host to their first ever home volleyball match at Clifton Academy, the Alleghany Cougars (1-1) picked up their first win of the season this past Thursday night as they won in straight sets over the Parry McCluer Fighting Blues in a non-district matchup.

After cruising to two straight sets wins, 25-15 and 25-7, Alleghany could not separate themselves enough from Parry McCluer who hung around for the better part of the match, only to find themselves falling 25-20 as it was too little too late for the Fighting Blues.

It was a big day on the volleyball court for Laken Tingler who led the way with a team-high 12 kills. Meanwhile, it was another big-time performance from Kaiya Lian who had an 11-kill performance. In her first two games this season, Lian is averaging 10 kills per contest. Racking up the assists once again was Lexi Dressler with 16. Dressler is averaging 17 assists through the first two games.

Alleghany and Wilson Memorial will meet once again on Tuesday as the Cougars will be the hosting team at the Clifton Academy. The Green Hornets were 3-1 winners in their match on Tuesday.
