LOW MOOR, VA – A 20-win season. A district championship. A Class 2, Region C championship. A trip to the Class 2 state semifinals. A plethora of players selected to the all-district teams. A handful selected to the all-region teams.

What a season it was Alleghany Mountaineer baseball in their last season ever.

Oh. How about a pair selected to the all-state first team.

On Wednesday, Hunter DePriest and Eli Weese were both selected to the Class 2 all-state first team.

DePriest was selected to the all-state first team as an outfielder. DePriest had a .381 batting average, while leading the Mounties in home runs with four, and also led the team with 30 RBI’s. DePriest also had seven victories on the mound, while posting a 1.78 ERA, and led the pitching staff with 69 strikeouts.

Weese was selected as a first-team at large selection. During the season Weese posted a .403 batting average, along with 16 RBI’s and 31 runs scored. One major standout stat for Weese was his perfect 14 stolen base attempts as he was not thrown out once this past season.

Congratulations to the Mounties baseball team for all of the success you had in your final season as a team and individually.
