COVINGTON, VA- On Tuesday, June 14, some staff of the Virginian Review headed to the Jackson River Complex in Covington for the Virginian Review ‘Athlete of the year awards.’
Throughout the day, from 10:00 AM until 4:00 PM, athletes from Covington, Alleghany and Bath County High Schools, and their family members, dropped by to pick up their trophies and medals in their respective sports, took pictures, and got to know some of the staff on a more personal level.
Some athletes were out of town, working, or had other responsibilities that kept them from showing up to claim their award, but they are expected to pick those up in the coming weeks.
Over 30 kids, however, did make it to the shelter to make the event highly successful, and helped lay the groundwork on how to make it even better in the future.
Please stay tuned over the next few weeks for a plethora of pictures from the day of all the winners. When the others get their award later, please send a picture to brandon@wvdn.com.
