CLIFTON FORGE, Va. (VR) – This Saturday, June 10, the Clifton Forge Little League is hosting its third annual car show in the back lot at Mountain Gateway Community College from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
Their goal is to raise money for the Alleghany Highlands Family Emergency Relief Fund, a fund that Chris Rohr, vice president and communication officer of the Clifton Forge Little League, describes in detail: “It’s a fund set up for families to help them in time of need — say a mom was pregnant and needed to go to the doctor’s appointment and didn’t have any gas, they could apply for a $25 gift card to go get gas.”
The fund is not limited to individuals and small needs but can also be for families with larger needs such as help paying a water or gas bill, medical treatments and/or expenses or loss from a fire or other calamity.
During this free event, guests will enjoy music provided by a DJ, door prizes and food, which includes fries, nachos, barbecue, drinks and the Little League’s famous hot dogs.
Vendors will be onsite, and a Top 10 will be chosen from the cars, trucks, semis and motorcycles competing in the car show. Those who wish to participate in the car show or as vendors are required to register and pay a $10 entry fee.
Additionally, a 50/50 raffle will be going on, as well as a raffle drawing for a brand-new pellet grill. Tickets for the grill raffle will be $5 for a single ticket, $10 for three and $30 for a book of 10. The winner of the 50/50 drawing is required to be present to collect the prize money, but the winner of the grill is not. The grill winner will have to make arrangements with the Little League to pick up the prize.
Money raised for this event will be donated to the Alleghany Highlands Family Emergency Relief Fund. Additional questions and concerns should be addressed to Michael Reid, president of the Clifton Forge Little League, and he can be reached at 540-968-1840.
