LOW MOOR, VA- On May 19th, the Alleghany Lady Mountaineers JV team competed in the junior varsity championship game against Carroll County. For some reason, Carroll Co. had the Mounties number this season and won the title game 14-8. The game was tied at 7all after five innings, but Carroll Co. scored seven more runs in the sixt and seventh frames to seal the victory.
Paige Webb and Peyton Broughman each had two hits to lead Alleghany.
The Lady Mountaineers finished the final Mountaineer JV season ever, at 17-2 with both losses coming to Carroll Co.
Despite the loss, Mountaineer coach Kellie Cash could not have been more proud of her team, which featured a bond like no other.
“These 10 girls showed up dedicated and ready to go all out. The girls cried at the end but not out of sadness of losing but because the season was over. That’s a bond. That’s a team. I’ve done my job as a coach. It’s a season to remember and one to definitely be proud of,” Cash said.
