Thirty-nine teams and 471 players strong, Alleghany Highlands Youth Sports is back on the diamond.
Beginning on Monday, and running through the middle of October, the AHYS is offering baseball and softball leagues in all age groups on the fields of the city of Covington.
“We are excited about the kids being able to get out and play,” said A.J. Wolfe, president of AHYS. “Thanks to everyone that got this going and provided the opportunity for the youth in our area. It took a lot of different people to put this together. Image Express and Smith Sports were huge in the process, making jerseys in a very short length of time.
“Ricky Brown and Engineering Chemistry Company donated the COVID-19 disinfectant that was required for us to play,” Wolfe added. “The dugouts have to be sprayed down before each game.”
Games will be played at Casey Field, Nettleton Park, Main Street Park and the Jackson River Sport Complex.
