COVINGTON, VA – The Covington Cougars snapped a recent two-game losing streak last Tuesday on the soccer field by crushing the Narrows Green Wave 7-1 to pick up the teams fourth win of the season.
In a dominant offensive performance, Ben Moss put together his best outing of the season with a four-score goal performance in what was the Cougars third Pioneer District win of the year.
Along with Ben Moss’ performance, Jesus Reyes, Elvis Ramirez, and Sam Moss, each added one goal.
The defense of the Cougars was once again led by lockdown defender Dylan Pommert who had another double-digit performance with 11 steals, while Dean Anderson had nine. The tough defense of the Cougars only let four goal opportunities happen for the Narrows offense. On goal, Nicholas Lugar only allowed one goal on four shot opportunities as he recorded three saves.
The win was Covington’s second over Narrows this season as they swept the regular season series. Covington defeated Narrows nearly a month ago 2-0 on the road.
