ROANOKE, VA – The Alleghany Lady Mountaineers (0-4-1) varsity soccer team was in hunt for their first victory of the season in Roanoke on Wednesday evening.

The Lady Mountaineers, playing in a non-district matchup finished with a 2-2 overtime draw with the William Fleming Lady Colonels (1-6-1) of the Blue Ridge District.

With their backs against the wall and staring at a potential 0-5 start to their season, the Lady Mountaineers, who were down 2-0 at halftime, rallied with two goals from Lucey Nicely and Megan McHenry in the second half to force overtime. Both goals were Nicely and McHenry’s first of the season.

A little over three weeks ago, the Lady Colonels had gone to Low Moor and defeated the Lady Mountaineers 5-2.

The Lady Mountaineers will look for their first win of the season this coming Monday when they travel to Hot Springs to take on rival Bath County.
