LOW MOOR, VA – Kaylee Nicely (3-for-4) led the offensive attack for the Alleghany Lady Mountaineers (4-1) on the softball diamond last Thursday in the teams 17-6 home non-district victory over the Roanoke Catholic Lady Celtics.

Kay. Nicely was one of three Lady Mountaineers with a three-hit performance, while she led all batters with a game-high four RBI’s. Her two-run double in the bottom of the first inning sparked a nine-run inning for the team after they fell behind 3-0 in the top half of the inning.

Bryce Leitch (3-for-4) and Abbie Fridley (3-for-4) each also had a three-hit day at the plate, while each also had two RBI’s. Kailin Rice (2-for-3) had a three RBI day, in which two of those RBI’s was also part of the nine-run first for the team.

The Lady Mountaineers finished with a season-high 17 hits in the win.

On the mound, Kendell Keene (W, 2-for-4) picked up her third win of the season. Keene gave up six runs (three earned) on seven hits, while walking just one, and struck out six.

Ameilia Hamrick (1-for-3) led the Lady Celtics with two RBI’s. Alyssa Leonard (2-for-2), and Kyra Leonard (L/2-for-3) each had a two-hit day for the team, while K. Leonard suffered the loss on the mound after allowing 17 runs (12 earned) on 17 hits.

The Lady Mountaineers will look to continue their win-streak on Wednesday when the team travels to Roanoke this time to play the Lady Celtics at 5:00 p.m.
