ELLISTON, VA – May 16th, 2022 was the last time the Bath County Chargers (0-2) and Eastern Montgomery Mustangs last played on the soccer field.

It was for a one-game playoff to determine the regular season Pioneer District champions, in which was won by the Chargers 3-2.

Nearly 10 months later, the Mustangs found a little redemption from that defeat as they handed the Chargers their second shutout loss this season following a 7-0 defeat.

Osman Amaya provided a hat-trick for the Mustangs with a three-goal performance.  Four other Mustangs provided one goal each in the win, while goalkeeper Zach Craighead had five goals.

The defense from the Mustangs played tough as they held the Chargers to just five shots on goal.

The Chargers will look to get in the win column on Thursday when they host rival Alleghany in the teams’ home opener.
