The Covington Cougars trailed 5-0 in the fourth and were hanging around until the Riverheads Gladiators broke the game open in the bottom half of the fifth inning when they added five more runs and cruised to a 10-lead and victory over the Cougars.

The young Cougars have gotten off to a tough start this season, but there is plenty of time to improve as the season is young also, and moving forward, Covington will look to play winning baseball down the stretch.

Against Riverheads, Landon Arritt had two hits, and Ethan Martin and Trey Cook each had one.

Covington will head to Roanoke Catholic this Wednesday, March 22 for a game with the Celtics.

Here is some action from the defeat on Monday, March 20.
