The Alleghany Highlands Chamber of Commerce & Tourism will sponsor an Information Sharing session focusing on this year’s referendum which is on both Alleghany County and City of Covington ballots regarding elected versus appointed school board membership. This special evening will be held on Wednesday, November 2, 2022, beginning at 6 p.m. in the Board Room of the Alleghany County Governmental Complex located at 9212 Winterberry Avenue and the public is invited to attend.
The session is being sponsored by the Chamber as an effort to encourage citizens to become more involved in local government by learning about issues involving the community.
Leading the information session will be H. Alan Seibert, Ed.D who holds a bachelor degree in secondary education from Virginia Tech, a master degree from Radford University and a doctorate in educational leadership and policy studies from Virginia Tech School of Education.

As an expert in the field of education, Dr. Seibert will offer impartial insights to the pros and cons of elected vs appointed school boards based on his practical observations on the subject.
