Kiera Lowman continued with her dominating freshman season as she picked up her fourth event victory of the season as she helped guide the Alleghany Mountaineers girls team to a second place finish at the 2022 Spartan Invitational this past Saturday,

Lowman once again was impressive as she finished the event with a time of 19:52.5 which was over a second faster than Lauren Curtis of Woodrow Wilson High who came in at 20:58.4.

The Mountaineers girls team finished with three runners in the top 10 in a field that consisted of over 50 runners.

Along with Lowman, Macyn Cash put together an impressive outing as she finished third overall at the Spartan Invitational. Cash less than a minute behind Curtis as Cash clocked in at 21:11.9.

Also in the top 10 for the Mountaineers girls team was Gracie Barron, who finished eighth overall. Barron finished with a time of 21:40.6.

There were seven schools that competed for the girls. While the Mountaineers took second place, it was Woodrow Wilson who held off the Mountaineers in points 43-52.

Meanwhile in the high school boys event, the Mountaineers boys team finished in third place.

Leading the way for the Mountaineers boys team was Kellen Lowman whom finished ninth overall in a field that had over 60 runners. Lowman clocked in at 19:01.

Along with Lowman, the Mountaineers boys team had three top-20 places. Brennon Mahon finished in 18th place with a time of 19:47.9, and James Ross finished 20th as he clocked in at 20:07.3.

Much like in the girls event, it was Woodrow Wilson who won the overall boys event as Pike View Middle finished in second place.

Representing Clifton Middle, Trevor Jonas and Nolan Rosales, both finished in the top-10 for the Middle school boys event.

Jonas finished fifth overall with a time of 12:14, while Rosales clocked in just behind Jonas for a time of 12:16.6 for a sixth place finish. Meanwhile, Levi Bartley finished 13th with a time of 12:56.1.

For the girls Middle School team, Faith Barren led the way with a third place finish. Barren clocked in at 12:34 just 34 seconds behind second place finisher, Devin Haynes of Eastern Greenbrier. Haynes was held off by teammate Neena McClintic by just over one second as McClintic won the event.

Along with Barren, the girls team had two other top-10 finishers as Maggie Hensley placed seventh overall with a time of 13:54.7, and Elin Heck finished ninth with a time of 14:10.9.

The girls finished second to Eastern Greenbrier, 24-54 in points.
