Roanoke, VA (VR) – Roanoke’s favorite food festival is back on August 27th for the 13th year with the best food vendors in town. Roanoke Wing Fest, presented by Northwest Ace Hardware, is a tradition at Dr Pepper Park that celebrates the best chicken wings the valley has to offer. It has historically welcomed thousands of food fanatics sampling the various chicken wings smothered in the classic buffalo sauce or dressed in a chef’s one-of-a-kind creation. For the more serious restaurateurs, a bonified wing competition takes place to find the best wing in Roanoke. Awards go to the people’s choice, creative, sweet, traditional, and smoked wings. But wings aren’t the only food offered at wing fest. Some of the best food trucks around set up at Dr Pepper Park for Roanoke’s biggest one day food festival. Selling specialties from mouth-watering brisket, hotdogs and burgers all the way to a range of vegan fare. Wing Fest has it all. President of Dr Pepper Park, Waynette Anderson, commented “Wing Fest is our Roanoke legacy event. We are so proud to see the community come out every year and support this amazing local festival!”

Wing Fest is far from just a food festival. The park also boasts an incredible Kid’s Zone full of space to play and activities to do. The Kid’s Zone, powered by Macaroni Kid of Roanoke, offers parents the chance to enjoy their favorite chicken wing worry-free as the kids take full advantage of the play space.

Two local bands will also headline the event. The Roanoke native Jared Stout band will be taking the stage with their unique alt-country blues along with Radio Rehab. Both groups have played amazing shows at Dr Pepper Park in the past and are excited to see the fans at Wing Fest.

Other vendors featured at Roanoke Wing Fest include arts and craft vendors, deserts and sweets, jewelers, and even familiar commercial businesses that serve the Roanoke Valley. One business, Northwest Ace Hardware, has sponsored the Roanoke Wing Fest for 6 years now, and this year they will be bringing a massive water dunk tank for guests to try their luck at. August 27th is the perfect day to get out and enjoy the local specialties that Roanoke has to offer. Shop from small businesses and craft shops, enjoy good food and, of course, good music. Guests will also have chances to win prizes and giveaways throughout the day!
