Covington Lumberjacks own, Richard Long, was named the Signs USA Pitcher of the Week from the Valley Baseball League (VBL).

Last week Long recorded his best outing of the season in which he picked up his second victory of the season by pitching a complete (seven innings) game shutout against the Woodstock River Bandits. Long allowed just one hit and struck out five, while allowing no walks in the win.

Long’s previous season-high was five innings which he did four times including in a victory over the Staunton Braves.

On the season, Long is 2-1 with 4.01 ERA. Long will not be on the Lumberjacks playoff roster.
