Man Killed On Railroad Work
The first accident of serious moment to occur since work was begun by Brooks-Calloway Co. on the extensive improvements for the C & O Railway in this vicinity, took place at 6:30 Wednesday evening, when William McGee, a colored workman, was crushed to death. At the same time another employee was injured. He was taken to the hospital for treatment. It was said the accident was caused by a locomotive and tender overturning on one of the temporary tracks. McGee was riding the tender at the same time and was caught before he could leap to safety. The body was taken to the undertaking parlors of a firm in Clifton Forge to be prepared for burial.
