Bryan Stinespring, a Clifton Forge native and graduate of Clifton Forge High School in 1982, is returning to high school sports as the new Alleghany High School Athletic Director for the 2022-23 school year.
Stinespring, has also been hired at the same position for the consolidated high school of Alleghany and Covington High School in 2023-24 when the two schools and their sports programs merge together.
At last nights joint meeting of the Alleghany County and Covington City school boards at Dabney S. Lancaster Community College, the hiring of Stinespring was made official.
Alleghany and Covington school systems will become one on July 1st.
Stinespring, will take over the duties at Alleghany High School on April 25th, replacing, Charity Hale, who has taken a new position within the school system.
As Athletics Director, Stinespring will oversee all sports programs and will have say in the recommendation of the first football coach for the join school system in the fall of 2023.
For 26 years, Stinespring, was part of Frank Beamer’s coaching staff at Virginia Tech from 1990-2015 and was part of the Hokies team that made it to the national championship in 1999 led by quarterback, Michael Vick.
In addition to his time in Blacksburg with the Hokies, Stinespring, was on the offensive staff for Old Dominion and the University of Maryland. Recently, Stinespring, was the offensive line coach at Delaware.
Stinespring’s background also includes being a walk-on football player for James Madison University (JMU) in the 1980’s.
