On Tuesday night, the Bath County Chargers picked up their first win of the season.
With the Craig County Rockets coming to Carl F. Williams Stadium, for a big district meeting, the Chargers needed a win to have any hopes at getting a playoff spot in their region (Region 2C).
Put a checkmark on on step one of gaining ground towards a potential playoff berth.
The Chargers who coming into the game only had scored a total of 18 points in seven games, shut out the Rockets 19-0.
Coming into the game, the Chargers had not had a lead in any game of the season. That is a total of 28 quarters without having a lead.
The team grabbed early first quarter touchdowns from Kamoy Stone and Hunter Waldeck to take an early 12-0 lead before ultimately winning 19-0.
In the teams regular season finale tomorrow, the Chargers hosts the Narrows Green Waves.
With a win for the Chargers over the Green Waves who currently are ranked sixth in the Region 1C rankings, along with a loss by Grayson County, the Chargers may sneak into the postseason after starting out 0-7 on the year.
For the Rockets, the loss dropped them to 10th in the Region 1C rankings and will need a win over Covington along with losses by Grayson and Bath to get in.
