The Rev. Roslyn Thomas Installed As Pastor Of First Baptist Church

CLIFTON FORGE – First Baptist Church of 918 Church Street, Clifton Forge, has announced the installation services of the Rev. Roslyn C. Thomas as the official pastor .

The services for this historic occasion will be held on Sunday.

At 11 a.m., pre-installation morning worship service, will be held. The Rev. E.T. Burton will be the guest minister.

He is a retired pastor or Sweet Union Baptist Church Roanoke.

At 1:30 p.m. a fellowship dinner will be held at Lifehouse Ministries 601 Granville Ave. Clifton Forge.

At 3:30 p.m., the installation service will be held at First Baptist Church, Clifton Forge.

The Rev. Dr. James Harrison, pastor Main St. Baptist Church, Smithfield, will be the guest minister.

The Rev. Roslyn C. Thomas is the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. F. M. Clark, Jr. She is married to William E. Thomas, Sr. They have one son William E. Thomas, Jr. and she has a step-son Anthony Webb.

She has resided in the Alleghany Highlands all her life.

She is presently by employed Wells Fargo of Roanoke.

Rev. Thomas was baptized by the Rev. John Davis at an early age in the First Baptist Church were she served in the music ministry, Sunday School, youth ministry and finance ministries, as well as a deaconess.

Rev. Thomas is the founder of the Damsel Arise Ministries Eschelon. D.A.M.E. is a ministry birthed by God to assist women in their Christian walk.

She also currently serves as the Youth Director of the Berean Valley Baptist Association. She is the treasurer of the Community Heritage Association (CHA), a Chaplain for LewisGale Hospital-Alleghany.

She has served as past board member of the Alleghany Highlands Arts and Crafts Center, Clifton Forge Merchants and Associates, and second vice president of the Greater Alleghany United Fund.

She has also served on the C.A.F.E. Ministries board and was a member of the community One United Choir.

Under the leadership of the Rev. Roger Bush, Rev. Thomas earned a two year Bible Certificate of Ministry from the Alleghany Bible Institute. She has studied at Hampton University and Dabney S. Lancaster Community College (Religious Studies).

She is currently enrolled in the Bluefield College of Evangelism (Covington Extension) where the professor is the Rev. Bill Gilliand. She has attended conferences and conventions across the United States.

Rev. Thomas was licensed in August 2000 as an Evangelist Missionary by the Second Jurisdiction of Virginia, Prelate Bishop Samuel Green and the Rev. Leon R. Taylor, Sr. pastor of the First Church of God in Christ, Clifton Forge, Virginia.

On July 13, 2008 having been sent back to her home church (First Baptist Church) by God, she was re-licensed by the congregation as the first female to be licensed at First Baptist Church, Clifton Forge.

On April 5, 2009 Rev. Thomas was ordained by the Reverend Dr. E. T. Burton and the Rev. Dr. Thomas Simmons.

After serving as pulpit supply minister yet another historical moment was made, the First Baptist Church family voted her in as the interim pastor on August 16, 2009.

At the First Baptist Church Reverend Thomas serves as Youth Sunday School Teacher, Youth Leader, a member of the Kings Daughters Ministry and also a member of the J.I. Anderson Memorial Choir. She evangelizes in the highways and byways and jails.

Reverend Thomas cited Phillipians 1:6 in saying that is “The work that God hath begun in her He will complete.”
