Charlotte Smith Crowned Tiny Miss Queen Of Hearts

Charlotte Elizabeth Smith has been named the 2011 Tiny Miss Queen of Hearts.

Charlotte, the 5-year-old daughter of Chris and Emily Smith of Covington, received her crown Saturday night during the annual Tiny Miss Queen of Hearts pageant held at Covington High School’s Curfman Hall.

Charlotte also won the Photogenic Award Saturday night.
She is in kindergarten at Edgemont Primary School and was sponsored by The Shoe Box & Sports Center.

Elizabeth Ann Ratliff was named first runner-up. She is the 6-year-old daughter of Michael and Jennifer Ratliff of Covington. Elizabeth is in the first grade at Edgemont Primary School and was sponsored by Alleghany Highlands Mechanical Inc.

Mercadez Michelle Ambler was named second runner-up. She is the 7-year-old daughter of Amber Grimes and Chris Ambler of Covington. Mercadez is in the first grade at Edgemont Primary School and was sponsored by Waco Inc.

McKenzie Renee Honts was named third runner-up. She isthe 6-year-old daughter of Richard and Susan Honts of Alleghany County. McKenzie is in kindergarten at Mountain View Elementary School and was sponsored by Amanda’s Redi-Mix.

Amy Nicole Jo Lee was named fourth runner-up. She is the 6-year-old daughter of Susan Kincaid and Hoyt Lee. Amy is in kindergarten at Edgemont Primary School and was sponsored by Lodge Automotive.

Autumn Faye Hall received the Audience Choice Award.

The Audience Choice Award is voted on by members of the audience who place money in the jar of their favorite contestant. Autumn collected $395 in her jar.

She is the 6-year-old daughter of Roy and Connie Hall of Alleghany County. Autumn is in kindergarten at Mountain View Elementary School and was sponsored by Edgemont Service Station, Rex and Sheila Selleck.

Saturday’s pageant was the sixth and final pageant held annually by the Alleghany Heart Unit as a fundraiser. The unit raised $10,378 during the Tiny Miss Queen of Hearts.

The Alleghany Heart Unit’s fundraising goal was set at $25,000 for the year and the unit has surpassed that goal by raising $46,000.

Gracie Conner, 2010 Tiny Miss Queen of Hearts, presented the heart unit with a check for $5,728 that she raised during her reign.

Kathy Gibson, Tiffany Reynolds, Karen May and Janet Wolfe served as pageant directors. Amanda Burns was the pageant coordinator.

Pageant helpers include Mandy Arritt, Susan Tolley, Tracey Barner, Betty Munsey, Scott and Robyn Biggs, Kelsey Meyers and Schuyler Fury.

Robin Jennings was the queen coordinator. Janet Wolfe was in charge of artistic design. Alan and Dianne Loving served as videographers. Vance Givens was in charge of concessions.

Maddox Wolfe and Richard Reynolds served as escorts during the pageant’s evening gown competition and presented each contestant with a single, long-stemmed red rose.

Entertainment was provided by 2010 Tiny Miss Queen of Hearts Gracie Conner, Sydney Hepler, Mikayla Morgan, Kiersten Smith, the Junior Rockers, Garlynda’s Fancy Feet and 2011 Junior Miss Queen of Hearts Mahaley Reyns.

Visiting royalty included Christen and Maleah Holloway, Baylee Peters and Lilly Burns.

Current reigning queens, all of whom were on hand to help with the pageant’s festivities, include Queen for a Cause Garlynda Haynes, Queen for a Cause Laurel Haynes, Senior Miss Queen of Hearts Emily Bennett, Junior Miss Queen of Hearts Mahaley Reyns, Young Miss Queen of Hearts Kylie Hendrickson and Little Miss Queen of Hearts Grace Hall.

Nineteen young ladies participated in the 2011 Tiny Miss Queen of Hearts pageant.

Other contestants include:

Sabrina Kimberly Burks, the 7-year-old daughter of Kimberly and Micah Burks of Alleghany County. She is in the first grade at Mountain View Elementary School and was sponsored by Cato’s.

Peyton Grace Colvin, the 6-year-old daughter of Cassi and Jason Maloney of Covington and John Colvin of Clifton Forge. She is in the first grade at Edgemont Primary School and was sponsored by Jim Gum Automotive.

Rialeigh Jade Conner, the 6-year-old daughter of Krista Conner and Ian Brown of Iron Gate and Kevin and Emily Rickett of Clifton Forge. She is in kindergarten at Sharon Elementary School and was sponsored by Tree Smart.

Cassy Rae Evans, the 7-year-old daughter of Richard and Jana Evans of Selma. She is in the first grade at Mountain View Elementary School and was sponsored by Carpenters Inc.

Kyleigh Sade Fridley, the 6-year-old daughter of Darien and Kahla Fridley of Alleghany County. She is in the first grade at Edgemont Primary School and was sponsored by the Double C Cafe.

Allison Jane Gibson, the 5-year-old daughter of Travis Gibson of Covington and Brandon and Sherry O’Conner of Callaghan. She is in pre-kindergarten at Callaghan Elementary School and was sponsored by Elaine Mitchell’s.

Olivia Jinright, the 6-year-old daughter of Brian Jinright of Chesapeake and Erica Linkenhoker of Alleghany County.
She is in kindergarten at Mountain View Elementary School and was sponsored by Cucci’s Pizzeria.

Kaleigh Louise Reynolds-Morris, the 7-year-old daughter of Kathy and Vernon Morris of Longdale. She is in the first grade at Mountain View Elementary School and was sponsored by Firmstone Manor.

Alexis Ostling, the 6-year-old daughter of Kristopher and Suzanne Ostling of Alleghany County. She is in the first grade at Mountain View Elementary School and was sponsored by Alleghany Floral Boutique.

Paris Richmond, the 6-year-old daughter of Ross and Li Holsclaw of Covington. She is in the first grade at Edgemont Primary School and was sponsored by Sign Express.

Hallie Mae Simpson, the 6-year-old daughter of Jimmy and Kathy Simpson of Alleghany County. She is homeschooled and is in the first grade. She was sponsored by The Willow Tree.

Madalynne Suzanne Taylor, the 6-year-old daughter of Ben and Amanda Taylor of Callaghan. She is in kindergarten at Edgemont Primary School and was sponsored by Covington Honda Nissan.

Allison Hope Thompson, the 6-year-old daughter of Loren and Marcy Thompson of Alleghany County. She is in kindergarten at Callaghan Elementary School and was sponsored by Bartley’s Meat Market.
