Mary Catherine A. Kiser, 87, of 488 Kiser Lane, Millboro, died Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke.

She was born June 2, 1925 in Monroe County, W.Va., the daughter of the late Charles K. Altizer, Sr. and Bertha Mae Withrow Altizer.

She was married to the late James L. Kiser who preceded her in death on March 5, 1993.

Mrs. Kiser was retired from Western State Hospital where she served 12 years as a nurses aide. Prior to that she worked in the Bath County School System in the cafeteria.

She attended Millboro Presbyterian Church. She loved her flowers, enjoyed sewing and was a great cook. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

She is survived by two sons, James Vernon Kiser and wife Gayle of Draper, and Jamie Kiser and wife Wanda May of Elliston; a brother, Charles K. Altizer, Jr. of Williamsville; a sister, Virginia Gott and husband Jack of Fredericksburg, Texas; five grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a daughter, Zelda Diane Turner; a son Jerry Lane Kiser; a sister, Bertha Mae Cales.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m., Friday at the Millboro Funeral Home with Reverend John Haney officiating.

Interment will be in Lyles Chapel Cemetery on Ridge Road in Millboro.

Pallbearers will be James Robert Kiser, John Kelley Kiser, Mark Altizer, Jeffrey Altizer, Robb Tremblay, Ralph Forschee, Sr. and Ralph Forschee, Jr.

The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Millboro Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Millboro Presbyterian Church, 126 Church Street, Millboro, Va., 24460.
