NEWPORT NEWS — Patrick Burns was a record-settng soccer goal scorer at Alleghany High School.

Burns is now doing his thing at Christopher Newport University.

Recently, Burns was named the Capital Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week after scoring two goals and adding four assists in a three-win week for nationally ranked the Captains.

CNU, ranked 11th in Division III, has a 12-1-3 record, 3-0-2 in CAC.

Burns has totaled 10 goals and 11 assists for 31 points, ranking him among the NCAA national leaders.

The sophomore in tied for third in the country in assists and is in the top 40 in goals scored.

Burns leads the CAC in assists and ranks second in goals scored.

The Captains have four matches left in the regular season. The CAC tournament is scheduled for November 1, 5 and 8 and a site to be announced.
