Debra Ruth Sams Simmons, 61, of Rockbridge County, VA. passed away, Wednesday, June 10, 2015, at Golden Living Center, Buena Vista, VA.
Debbie was born May 20, 1954, in Bath County, VA and was the daughter of the late Lacy Dale Sams, Sr. and Doris Kessinger Sams.
She was preceded in death by her loving brother, Lacy (Dale) Sams, Jr.
She is survived by brothers, Michael Sams and wife, Sarah of Mt. Jackson, VA and Steven Sams and wife, Robin of Covington.
Debbie was formally of Covington, Virginia and a 1974 graduate of Covington High School. She had resided in Rockbridge County since the mid 1970’s.
A loving daughter, special sister and dear sister-in-law, Debbie continued to enjoy life and never complained about any situation that she encountered. She was a very caring person with a loving smile and always maintaining a positive spirit throughout her life.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by Loving Funeral Home of Covington, VA.
Graveside services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Saturday, June 13, 2015 at Green Hill Cemetery, Buena Vista, VA with the Pastor Butch Grow officiating.
Active pallbearers are Jason Sams, Greg Sams, Kevin Gum, Buzz Hoke, Buddy Homes, Larry Sams and Temple Kessinger.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Buena Vista Rescue Squad or Rockbridge County Animal Rescue Shelter.
