BATH COUNTY, Va. (VR) – The Bath County High School competition cheer team finished second Saturday while hosting its first competition in program history. The Lady Chargers also recorded their highest score since the program began in 2023.

The Lady Chargers, coached by Hayley Shaver and Allyson Watkins, have continued to improve throughout the season and will travel to Bristol next Saturday for regional competition.

Shaver told the Virginian Review she is proud of the team’s progress and the recognition the program has earned over the past three years.

“These girls have been working so hard these past three years, and we’re so excited to see how they do at regionals next weekend,” Shaver said.

This season carries additional meaning for the Lady Chargers, who will graduate four seniors. Three have been with the program since its inaugural season in 2023.

Shaver also thanked the Bath County community for its support during Saturday’s competition.

“We are absolutely blown away by this team’s hard work, grit, determination and passion for this sport,” Shaver said. “It has been an absolute honor having the opportunity to coach such great girls.”

Bath County will look to build on its record-setting performance when the Lady Chargers compete at regionals next Saturday.
