CLIFTON FORGE, VA (VR) — On Thursday, Oct. 1, at approximately 12 p.m., the Clifton Forge Police Department and Alleghany County Sheriff’s Office responded to an incident involving a student at the Mountain Gateway Community College Clifton Forge campus. The area was secured shortly after officers arrived, and there was no threat to other students or the campus community.

Due to federal privacy laws and MGCC policy, specific details regarding the student’s identity or the nature of the incident cannot be disclosed.

“Our first priority is always the safety and well-being of our students, faculty, and staff. I deeply appreciate the quick, professional actions of our campus team, as well as the prompt response of our local law enforcement partners,” said Dr. John Rainone, President of Mountain Gateway
Community College. “I am thankful this situation was resolved safely with no harm coming to the student or others on campus. We are fully cooperating with law enforcement and providing support services to those impacted.”
