ROANOKE COUNTY Va. (VR) – Laken Tingler is preparing for her second season with the Hollins University volleyball program.
Tingler, a 2025 Alleghany graduate, made an immediate impact during her freshman season. She appeared in 19 sets across seven matches, finishing with 18 kills on 52 attacks for a .135 hitting percentage. She also recorded two service aces and finished the season with 20.5 points.
Defensively, Tingler recorded 18 digs and was credited with one block. She finished with an .892 reception percentage.
Her best offensive performance came against Salem, where she recorded six kills and six points. She also posted six digs against Brevard, matching her season high. Against Methodist, Tingler went 2-for-4 attacking for a .500 hitting percentage and added a block for 2.5 points.
Tingler’s six-kill performance against North Carolina Wesleyan was another highlight of the season. Hollins’ official statistics list her with a season-high six kills, while she also contributed defensively throughout the season.
Hollins head coach David McGee said Tingler has quickly become a valuable member of the program.
“Laken has been a great addition to our team and has quickly established herself as a dependable and supportive teammate,” McGee said. “She brings a tremendous work ethic and plays with great energy and enthusiasm every day.”
McGee said Tingler has also made an impression with her leadership and approach to the game.
“She has fit in extremely well with the team and has already demonstrated strong leadership among our incoming class,” McGee said. “We’re excited to see how she continues to grow and what she can contribute to the team this season.”
Hollins finished the 2025 season with a 10-16 overall record. Tingler was part of a roster that produced 828 kills, 241 aces and 1,131 digs during the season.
The Covington native enters her second collegiate season looking to build on that freshman experience. Hollins lists Tingler as a 5-foot-4 outside hitter/defensive specialist, giving the Green and Gold another returning player with college match experience.
Hollins opens the 2026 season Sept. 1 at William Peace University before heading to Rocky Mount, North Carolina, for the NCW Invitational Sept. 4-5.
