Frazier Leads Pioneer District as Golf Season Gets Underway

BATH COUNTY, Va. — The 2026 golf season is underway, and the Pioneer District is showing significant growth on the course.

Freshman Aubree Frazier of Narrows opened the season with the low score, while Atticus Stauffer led Bath County High School.

The district has seen a 400% increase in female golfers and has doubled in size overall. All four teams posted complete team scores to open the season, setting the stage for increased competition throughout the year.

The season officially opened with a ribbon-cutting ceremony featuring Bath County Schools Superintendent John Taylor, Homestead Director of Golf Mark Frye and Virginia Highlands Youth Golf Academy President Joe Suefer. BCHS graduate Colby Lowry performed the national anthem on trumpet before the orange Chargers ribbon was cut.

The partnership between the three organizations helped bring Chargers golf back to the top of the district.

BCHS will be led by team captain Akio Long as the Chargers look to continue the program’s tradition of success.
