Reintroduced Legislation to Expand Opportunities for Veterans
The brave men and women who sacrificed to serve and protect our freedoms have earned every opportunity to succeed. That’s why supporting our Nation’s veterans has remained one of my top priorities in Congress. Last week, I reintroduced the Veterans Entrepreneurship Act of 2026, which would allow veterans the opportunity to pursue their small business and entrepreneurial aspirations by giving them access to resources through their federal government benefits. The bill would establish a three-year pilot program overseen by the Small Business Administration that would enable up to 250 GI Bill benefit-eligible veterans to pursue an educational entrepreneurial training program. The pilot program includes a thorough application process. It requires participation in an approved entrepreneurial training program where veterans develop a business plan to be approved by their training program advisor and the SBA’s Associate Administrator for Veterans Business Development.
After answering the call to serve our Nation, many veterans face an uphill battle as they transition back to civilian life. The Veterans Entrepreneurship Act would expand pathways to small business ownership, helping veterans achieve the American Dream while creating jobs and strengthening our economy. Providing those who defended our freedom with the tools to build successful businesses is one of the best ways we can repay their service and sacrifice.
Cosponsored Legislation to Protect Financial Privacy
Americans should never have to worry that the federal government is watching or controlling how they spend their money. A Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) would give the Federal Reserve an alarming surge of unchecked power to violate the Fourth Amendment rights guaranteed in our Constitution. Under federal control, CBDCs become a dangerous tool for unelected bureaucrats to spy on and potentially restrict how Americans spend their hard-earned dollars.
I am proud to cosponsor the Permanent CBDC Ban Act, legislation that would build upon action taken by House Republicans to protect Americans from the federal government spying on our finances by permanently prohibiting the Federal Reserve from issuing or creating a CBDC.
Joined a Letter to Strengthen Our Trade Agreement for Virginia’s Farmers
Last week, I signed a letter sent to U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer voicing support for the Trump Administration’s approach to an outcomes-based extension of the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA). In July 2026, the United States declined to sign a clean extension and instead held out for a strengthened agreement. This letter backs the administration’s decision to prioritize a stronger renegotiated agreement that presses for improved market access, acts against harmful measures, and tightens rules against third-country trade practices.
A strong trade agreement strengthens the U.S. economy, secures supply chains, bolsters our national security and, especially in Virginia’s Sixth District, helps our farmers and producers. With many Virginia jobs tied to trade with Canada, including in the Sixth District, this letter is important for stronger agricultural market access for soybean, pork, poultry, and cattle producers. I will always fight to ensure our farmers have the greatest chance of success.
