CLIFTON FORGE — An Alleghany Highlands Prayer Summit will be held Saturday at First Presbyterian Church in Clifton Forge. The summit will begin at 10:30 a.m., with registration starting at 10 a.m.
The event is being organized by the Rev. Roger Bush, who is a member of the World Christian Alliance and the founder of a  Facebook group, “Share the Prayer.”
“Christians from the Highlands and beyond are urged to participate in this prayer event in which men and women from all denominations and movements in Christendom will display the unity of God’s people,” Bush said.
A major emphasis will be placed on prayer for unity in the United States.
“Our Pledge of Allegiance to be ‘one nation under God, indivisible,’ has been eroded and rejected by some very high profile people and threatens our very existence as the leading nation in the world,” Bush said.
“This prayer summit is an interdenominational effort to ask God for divine power to flow in the minds and hearts of citizens, neighbors and leaders on all levels in our nation so that differences of personality, perspective and beliefs among us all can be blended in the harmony of God’s vision and plan for this nation,” Bush said.
Bush and other organizers of the prayer summit planners hope to see a spirit of harmony rise among churches “that will move contagiously into those on every level who are not united in love for our nation.”
“Christians from every circle, branch, and movement within the church of Jesus Christ are not only welcome, but urged to participate in this historic prayer event. It is a fact the nation, like the family, that prays together stays together. The alternative to unity is never healthy for anyone or anything,” Bush said.
First Presbyterian is located  at the corner of Jefferson and Church streets in Clifton Forge.
