CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Atlantic Coast Conference, in conjunction with ESPN and the Southeastern Conference, unveiled the matchups for the 2026 SEC/ACC Women’s Basketball Challenge on Friday morning.

Head coach Megan Duffy and her Hokies will host the Tennessee Lady Vols on Thursday, Dec. 3, with tipoff time and television designation to be announced at a later date.

Virginia Tech and Tennessee have met 12 times, with the Lady Vols holding an 8–4 advantage in the series. The teams last played on March 25, 2023, in Seattle in the Sweet Sixteen of the NCAA Tournament, where the Hokies claimed a 73-64 victory. The two teams last met inside Cassell Coliseum on Dec. 5, 2021, a 64-58 win for Tennessee. Tech has won four of the last five meetings against the Lady Vols.

Last season, the Hokies secured a 68-64 victory over Florida in Blacksburg, marking the program’s second win in the Challenge. Tech was one of three ACC women’s programs to earn a win. Additionally, Virginia Tech’s men’s and women’s teams both recorded victories over SEC opponents in 2025, making it one of just two schools to do so.
