FISHERSVILLE, Va. (VR) – Alleghany absorbed two early hits and still rolled, overpowering Wilson 6–3 behind depth that took over the rest of the lineup.
The Cougars dropped the top two singles courts, with Lainie McCormick falling 2–8 and Haley Ryder coming up short 3–8. From there, it flipped fast — and completely.
Alayah Morgan got Alleghany on the board with an 8–2 win, and Kara Nicely followed by controlling her court in an 8–1 decision to even the match. Once the middle locked in, the bottom slammed the door.
Mylee Dunbar and Lucy Wills delivered back-to-back shutouts, both winning 8–0. Over the final four singles matches, Alleghany outscored Wilson 32–3, turning a 0–2 start into a 4–2 advantage in a hurry.
By the end of singles, the Cougars had seized a 4–2 lead and built a 34–22 edge in total games, winning every court 3 through No. 6.
Doubles finished it.
Wilson picked up the No. 1 spot 8–1, but Alleghany answered immediately, Ryder and Wills shut out match two with an 8–3 win to clinch the match. Nicely and Dunbar added another dominant performance, blanking Wilson 8–0. An exhibition doubles match also went Alleghany’s way, 5–4.
