COVINGTON Va. (VR) – A collection of artwork by Alleghany Highlands native Ace Rogers is currently on display at the Alleghany Highlands Regional Library.
Rogers lived in the community of Callaghan throughout their childhood, attending Alleghany Highlands Public Schools and graduating with full honors in 2021. After high school, they attended Mountain Gateway Community College and, in 2023, obtained their culinary arts certification. Rogers shares their unique art by baking and decorating confections at a bakery in Harrisonburg, Virginia.
Self-taught, with assistance from their high school art teacher and the Alleghany Highlands Arts and Crafts Center, Rogers creates original characters with unique stories. They specialize in whimsical, abstract pieces that bring a smile to any person who views them.
Rogers upcycles art supplies whenever possible, including frames, mats, and other items used to create almost every artwork included in this gallery.
Rogers’ work can be viewed at the AHRL through the end of April. The Alleghany Highlands Regional Library is located at 406 W. Riverside Street in Covington and can be reached at 540-962-3321 or on their website www.ahrlib.org.
