ROANOKE, Va. (VR)– Virginia State Police is investigating a two-vehicle crash, which resulted in a
fatality. The crash occurred on Thursday (Mar 5) at 5:09 p.m. on Interstate 581, southbound,
near the Valley View Mall entrance ramp in Roanoke City.
A 2025 Harley Davidson motorcycle was traveling at a high rate of speed changing lanes and
struck a 2011 Ford Explorer in the rear.
The driver of the Harley Davidson was identified as Anthony Lee Spencer, 38, of Roanoke, Va.
Mr. Spencer was wearing his helmet and died at the scene.
The driver of the Ford was injured and transported to Roanoke Memorial Hospital with non-life-
threatening injuries.
The Virginia State Police Crash Reconstruction Team assisted with the crash.
The crash remains under investigation.
