SALEM, Va. (VR) – The Chargers placed fifth as a team in the Class 1 division at the VHSL state wrestling tournament held at the Salem Civic Center.

Ethan Bryant and Tyler Shaver led the way with third-place finishes. AJ Woodson and Jeremy Burns placed fourth, while Azi Tyson finished fifth.

Bryant went 5-1 in the 165-pound class, falling to Andrew Scarberry of Grundy by a 17-4 decision. Shaver took third at 285 and dropped a 17-0 match to Luke Shelton of Grundy.

Woodson placed fourth at 157 after a 16-2 loss to Trenton Hall of George Wythe. Burns finished fourth at 138, falling to Sal Cardenas of Mathews 11-8. Tyson rounded out the effort with a fifth-place finish, losing to William Shepherd 7-1.
