Wilson Memorial Takes Control Early in District Win Over Alleghany

FISHERSVILLE, Va. (VR) – Alleghany dropped a Shenandoah District game Friday in Fishersville, falling to Wilson Memorial as the Green Hornets pulled away early.

The Cougars trailed 35-16 at the half and couldn’t close the gap in the second half. Ty’Aieja Smith and Ja’Kara Heighter led Alleghany with nine points apiece, while Sophie Knighton added four.

Alleghany fell to 0-5 in district play and 1-9 overall.

Wilson Memorial also won the junior varsity game, 22-14. Karizma Legg scored five points for the Cougars and Abbi Powell had four. The Alleghany JV slipped to 0-4 in the Shenandoah District and 0-8 overall.
