On December 18, VFW Auxiliary District 6 President Bonnie Blake visited VFW Post 1033 auxiliary for an annual inspection of books and audit of the chapter’s operations. Pam Kotz, the Buddy Poppy and National Home State Chairperson, accompanied President Blake. Prior to the audit, a reception was held to honor the President’s visit.

At the conclusion of the business session, President Blake made a report of the progress of the chapter’s activities. President Blake had the following comment about VFW Post 1033 auxiliary: Walking into Post#1033 in Covington, Virginia, is like walking into the past, one filled with Pride of Country, Patriotism…” She went on to say, “The Building and property are well maintained and give you a brief glimpse through the years, the Veterans, their sacrifices, and all the time that has been spent building an organization that is paying respect to them.”

Speaking about the people involved with VFW Post 1033, Blake said, “As the President of VFW Auxiliary # 1264 I met Marian Paxton at a District meeting and was in awe of her enthusiasm and energy, for such a tiny woman ….  Marian is the driving force of a group of under 60 people who manage to get things done that larger Auxiliaries have not, all because of her undying love and passion for the cause.”

Auxiliary President, Marian Paxton, commented on the visit, saying how pleased they were to have the President come to their post home for this holiday visit.  We here at Post 1033 strive daily to serve our veterans in any way we can.  If there is any way we can be of assistance to you, please do not hesitate to reach out to any post auxiliary member.  We also serve the Salem VA Hospital by playing quarterly bingo, recognizing veteran holidays and assisting with any needs they might have, as well as sending cards to Salem VA: Virginia Care Center and local nursing homes.
