BATH COUNTY, Va. (VR) – Bath County delivered one of its strongest overall performances to date at the Hornet Duals, producing consistent individual success across the lineup and winning the majority of contested bouts throughout the day.

Anthony Woodson, Ethan Bryant, Jeremy Burns and Tyler Shaver each finished a perfect 5-0 on the day to anchor the effort, while Azi Tyson went 4-1 and Jesse Perry added a 3-2 mark. Bath County wrestlers repeatedly controlled matches against larger programs, with forfeits ultimately dictating the team results rather than action on the mat.

Bath County won six matches in a 46-32 loss to Stonewall Jackson, followed by a 42-36 setback to Broadway in which the team claimed five of eight contested bouts. Against Rockbridge, Bath County won five matches to four and added three exhibition victories in a 41-30 final. The Chargers also won five matches in a narrow 41-36 loss to Fluvanna before closing the day with another five-match win in a 41-34 final against Wilson Memorial.

Across the five duals, Bath County consistently won the majority of contested matches, with team scores impacted by forfeited weight classes. The performance reflected continued progress within the program’s core group and steady execution of its system against deeper rosters.

Freshmen Easton Roberts, Zach Bryant and Harris Ellis continued their early development, gaining valuable experience as part of what the program views as its next wave. Coaches noted steady improvement and growing comfort at the varsity level as the season progresses.

Bath County’s youth program also competed Thursday night in a K-5 event against Wilson Memorial and Fort Defiance. Nathiah Wilson, Colton Kershner, Easton Durrette, Kingston Turner, Emmanuel Essex, Ryder Shaver, Malachi Essex, Annabelle Perry, Parker Black and Conner Black all saw mat time in a scrimmage-style format focused on development rather than team scoring. The group recorded multiple wins and showed measurable improvement from its opening match at Alleghany.
