Alleghany County Sheriff’s Office Warns About Telephone Scam

 

COVINGTON, Va. (VR) – Alleghany County Sheriff’s office has received two reports over the past 24 hours reporting that a caller is saying that he is a member of the Alleghany County Sheriff’s Office and Regional Jail and they have warrants for you, but if you send in money you can take care of it. The caller is using actual Deputy names and hangs up when people start questioning him.

 

Please DO NOT send any money to anyone who calls you.

 

The Alleghany County Sheriff’s Office will come to your home and inform you if we have paperwork that needs to be served. We will NEVER call you and tell you to send money.
