CLIFTON FORGE, Va. (VR) – One of the most anticipated events in the Alleghany Highlands brought a busy weekend to Clifton Forge as the annual Shriners Fall Foliage Festival kicked off on Friday afternoon. The festive event ran through Sunday.
Clifton Forge Mayor Jeff Irvine, stated in his opening remarks that the leaves could be a little more colorful but noted the beautiful forecast.
The festival featured the famous Shriners doughnuts, ham and sausages, and the Clifton Forge Rescue hotdogs.
Vendors lined the streets offering attendees handmade items, homemade bread and jams, herbal medicine, traditional fair food and more.

The Historic Masonic Theater came alive with gospel music on Saturday night featuring the Announcers on Saturday night for the annual Gospel Sing.
Overall, festival attendees enjoyed a weekend full of autumn fun and community togetherness.
