CLIFTON FORGE, Va. (VR) – The Alleghany Highlands Arts Council opens its 2025-26 Performing Arts Season on Wednesday, October 15, with the internationally acclaimed “The Spirit of Scotland Show,” direct from Edinburgh.

This event begins at 7:00 PM at the Historic Masonic Theatre in Clifton Forge.

“We couldn’t have chosen a more vibrant way to launch our season,” said Arts Council Executive Director Tammy Scruggs-Duncan. “The Spirit of Scotland Show brings this Celtic culture into the Alleghany Highlands, where Scottish heritage runs deep. It’s authentic, world-class entertainment for the entire family.”

Praised by the Edinburgh Evening News for its cast, The Spirit of Scotland Show is a passionate celebration featuring spirited dancers, superb vocalists, and celebrated musicians who will create a blend of storytelling, choreography, and timeless Scottish classics.  The experience is enhanced by the skirl of bagpipes, fiddle and accordion.

The group has performed on stages around the world, including for the late Queen Elizabeth II and King Charles III. The musical program includes traditional dances like the ‘Highland Fling’ and ‘Sword Dance’ and beloved Scottish songs such as ‘Auld Lang Syne,’ ‘Loch Lomond,’ ‘Mhairi’s Wedding,’ and the ‘Skye Boat Song,’ which gained renewed fame as the theme for the TV series ‘Outlander.’ Modern classics like ‘Caledonia’ and original pieces unique to the show are presented with fresh arrangements, ensuring a memorable and stirring musical experience.

Tickets are $25 and can be purchased online at the door. Type in this sales link https://arts4allalleghanyhighlands.com/event/the-spirit-of-scotland/.    Call 540-962-ARTS (2787) for more information.
