COVINGTON, Va. (VR) – Residents and stakeholders are invited to attend the annual public information meeting at Gathright Dam on Thursday, Oct. 2, from 3 to 5:30 p.m. at the Lake Moomaw Visitor Center, in Hot Springs, VA 24445.
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Norfolk District along with partners from the Department of Wildlife Resources, Virginia Department of Environmental Quality, and the U.S. Forest Service will provide updates on:
Educational Approach to Water Management
Fisheries management/Jackson River and Lake Moomaw
Jackson River Water Quality
Lake Moomaw Recreation
The format of the meeting will include a brief presentation from each organization followed by an open question-and-answer session and informal open house with a story board line-up. The public is welcome to attend any time during the meeting hours. Staff will be available to answer questions during the open house portion. Education materials displayed will include topics on water management, dam safety, facility management, and emergency management.
