CLIFTON FORGE — The Community Art School of the Alleghany Highlands at the Clifton Forge School of the Arts has announced its course offerings for Summer 2019.
The school is located at 518 Church Street in downtown Clifton Forge.
Also this summer, Free Fun Fridays return for a ninth year of summer fun, plus five special mid-week “Summer Camp” classes for children ages 6-10 and 11-13.
Flexible scheduling for several subject areas is available along with expanded offerings in yoga and meditation.
“Scholarships are available thanks to the generosity of private donors and organizations such as the town of Clifton Forge and the Virginia Commission of the Arts,” said Laura Rainone, director of the Clifton Forge School of the Arts.
Rainone added that a Penny Drive all summer will help raise funds for the Mill restoration project.
“Every little bit helps — dimes, nickels, bills and other donations will also be gratefully accepted,” she said.
The Clifton Forge School of the Arts is also partnering with Dairy Queen this summer on a fun art and ice cream project from May 25 through Aug. 10.

An open house is scheduled for Thursday, May 30, from 4 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Attendees will receive a 10 percent discount on class registration.

BLACKSMITHING :
Our Blacksmithing teacher’s summer schedule is somewhat flexible and he can offer classes for two or more students at more times than shown. It’s hot work in the summer, but he’s up for it if you are.
Please call the School of the Arts to let us know what might work for you. Blacksmithing classes are taught in our historic Mill. Students enter from the Mill’sentrance at the back of the School of the Arts.
