ALLEGHANY COUNTY, Va. (VR)– Virginia State Police is investigating a two-vehicle crash, which resulted in a fatality. The crash occurred Tuesday (Sept 16) at 1:50 p.m. on Valley Ridge Road, one half mile east of Smokey Bear Lane in Alleghany County.
A 2024 Kia Sportage was traveling west Valley Ridge Road when the vehicle crossed the centerline and struck a 2015 Dodge Dart, head-on.
The driver of the Dodge, Angela Sizemore Anderson, 72, of Covington, Va., was wearing her seatbelt and was transported to Lewis Gale Hospital Alleghany, where she later died.
The driver of the Kia was also transported to the same hospital and treated for injuries received in the crash.
Charges are pending.
The crash remains under investigation.
