EMORY, Va. (VR) – Patrick & Henry Community College made the trip to Emory on Saturday for a fall softball scrimmage, and one local product turned heads in the infield.
Brooklynn Hicks, a 2025 Alleghany High School standout, continued to make her presence known at the college level with a strong showing for the Patriots.
Hicks went 1-for-4 at the plate, but it was her defensive play at shortstop that drew the most praise. She handled all nine chances cleanly, recording nine putouts to anchor the middle infield.
“Brooklynn has been playing shortstop and did a great job today,” Patrick & Henry head coach Robbi Campbell said. “We are very pleased with Brooklynn’s performance today and looking forward to her growth this season.”
The Patriots use the scrimmages to evaluate talent and build toward their spring schedule, while Hicks proved she’s ready to contribute immediately as a freshman.
