COVINGTON, Va. (VR) –  The Covington Middle School Lady Cougars picked up their third win of the week Thursday night, sweeping Craig County in straight sets, 25-13 and 25-11.

CMS wasted no time in the opener. Eva Arritt sparked the Cougars with steady serving, while Emma Morgan added to the run with points from the line. Craig County kept it close early, but Covington pulled away behind closing serves from Kinsley Jefferson to take the first set, 25-13.

In the second set, the Lady Cougars never slowed down. Alyssa Shifflett delivered a stretch of points that extended the lead, and Journee Miller kept the pressure on with consistent serves through the middle of the set. Craig County battled with long rallies that tested the back row, but Miyah Howard and Eva Artist came through late to finish off the frame, 25-11.

The Lady Cougars’ balanced play and communication proved too much for Craig County, as Covington controlled the match from start to finish.

With the win, CMS improves to three victories this week and continues to build momentum early in the season.
