COVINGTON, Va. (VR) - Kids in colorful Easter attire filled Main Street on Saturday as Covington Parks and Recreation hosted its annual parade and egg hunt.
Wagons and bikes rolled through the route before the crowd gathered at City Park, where eggs were spread across the grounds for the hunt. Children quickly filled baskets as the event shifted into high gear.
The Easter Bunny posed for photos and handed out gifts, drawing steady lines throughout the afternoon.

2025 Hall of Fame Nominees

ALLEGHANY HIGH SCHOOL/COVINGTON HIGH SCHOOL HALL OF FAME NOMINATION FORM

ATHLETIC HALL OF FAME

Alleghany High School and Covington High School are seeking potential candidates for induction into the AHS or CHS Athletic Hall of Fame this fall of 2025. We are asking for nominations of potential members from the general public:

Eligible candidates must have:

  • Graduated from Alleghany High School (between the years of 1983 and 2015) or be a Covington High School graduate and should have demonstrated outstanding athletic contributions during or after their high school career. Such athletes must have completed in a VHSL-sanctioned Varsity Sport and must have excelled in such sport. Among the accomplishments considered will be Individual (All-District, All-Region, All-State, Player of the Year, All-Timesland) and/or Team accomplishments, Individual school or Team records held and impact on teams and the overall athletic program at Alleghany High School or Covington High School during their era and accomplishments thereafter;

or

  • Be an outstanding patron of the AHS or CHS Athletic programs, in which case the candidate need not be an AHS or CHS graduate. Individuals must have participated with distinction and/or made significant contributions to athletics at AHS or CHS.  Coaches and Administrators will be considered based on the success of their teams and the acknowledgement of their former student-athletes. Other contributors will also be considered for induction based upon their service and dedication to the athletic programs at AHS and CHS.

Moral character, Good Citizenship, and Academic Performance during high school and post-high school years shall be a consideration. Although athletic achievement while attending AHS or CHS is of prime importance, outstanding accomplishments after leaving AHS and CHS will also be considered. Special circumstances will be considered by the selection committee. Individuals nominated in the past will be automatically re-considered and do not require another nomination form.
