Rachel Ann Simmons

In Loving Memory of Rachel Ann Simmons
1938 – 2025

Rachel Ann Simmons, age 87, of Linden Avenue, Clifton Forge, Virginia, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 12, 2025. Born on January 10, 1938, in Covington, Virginia, she was the beloved daughter of the late Henry LeRoy Simmons and Julia Belva Saville Simmons.

Ann pursued her passion for caregiving by attending C&O Hospital Nursing School and dedicated her life to helping others as a Nurse Technician at Jackson River Internists, Inc. until her retirement at the age of 62. A former member of Covington Baptist Church, Ann found great joy in reading, cooking, and cherishing time spent with her devoted husband, Keith, and their beloved son, Keith Jr.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Keith Hileman Simmons, Sr. (2017); her son, Keith Hileman Simmons, Jr. (2019); and three brothers: Otho LeRoy “Buck” Simmons, Edward G. “Jack” Simmons, and James Morgan “Jimmy” Simmons.

Ann is survived by her loving sisters-in-law: Louise Fultz of Bacova, Virginia; Sue Simmons of Bridgewater, Virginia; Faye Simmons of Atlanta, Georgia; and Virginia Simmons of Arlington, Virginia and brother-in-law Dwight Simmons and wife Carol of Kirkland, Washington. She is also fondly remembered by numerous nieces and nephews who brought her much joy.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, July 19 at 11:00 AM at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Covington, with Reverend Rob Sherrard officiating. Family and friends are welcome to visit Nicely Funeral Home at any time during the week to pay their respects.

The family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to the compassionate neighbors of Linden Avenue, whose constant presence, support, and willingness to help brought Ann great comfort and companionship throughout her later years.

Sincere gratitude is also extended to Good Samaritan Hospice in Roanoke and the staff at Nicely Funeral Home, along with the many relatives, friends, and neighbors who offered care, kindness, and support.

Memorial contributions may be made to Good Samaritan Hospice, 4751 Cove Road, Roanoke, VA 24017.

Arrangements are being handled by Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge.
