BRIDGEWATER, Va. (VR) – Bridgewater College recognized approximately 80 outstanding students during the annual College Awards ceremony on Saturday, April 5, 2025.
Among the students receiving awards was Abby Martin, a(n) biology major from Clifton Forge, Va. Martin received the Carlyle Whitelow Award.
The town of Bridgewater and the Bridgewater Rotary Club annually gives the Carlyle Whitelow Award to a BC student who exemplifies Carlyle’s kindness and generosity of spirit, demonstrating a commitment of service to others.
At Bridgewater, Martin competed on the women’s swim team. She was also involved in Pre-Medical and Environmental Science clubs, the Philomathes Society, Omicron Delta Kappa and was a student ambassador on campus.
Martin accepted an elementary position teaching health/physical education starting August 2025.
Coeducational since its founding in 1880, Bridgewater College is a private, four-year liberal arts college located in the Central Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. Today, Bridgewater College is home to approximately 1,450 students. The College offers more than 60 undergraduate majors and minors and four graduate programs housed within three distinct schools.
