Marjorie Fridley Taylor
Marjorie Fridley Taylor, of Charlottesville, Va, passed away peacefully on May 12, 2025, at the age of nearly 101.
She was born in Clifton Forge, Va. on May 26, 1924, to Ernest and Mae Hornbarger Fridley. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frederick “Jimmy” Taylor, and four brothers, Tommy, Rodney, Courtney and Donald Fridley. She is survived by her daughters, Sheryl Taylor and Barbara Taylor Moore (Jim); her sister-in-law Betty Fridley, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Marjorie moved to Charlottesville in 1943 to live with a cousin, married a local boy after the war, and made her home there. She was active at Pantops Community Church and her prior church, First Baptist Church, at both of which she taught preschool Sunday School for over 50 years. She was an active Girl Scout leader, an avid traveler well into her nineties, a talented seamstress, an accomplished oil painter, and an enthusiastic gardener, tending her own yard past the age of 98.
A funeral service was held May 19, 2025, at Pantops Community Church, Charlottesville, Va., with interment at Monticello Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Pantops Community Church, the Charlottesville-Albemarle SPCA, or Hospice of the Piedmont.
